Today’s #flamechatter is brought to you by the color #yellow, and the following announcements:
Reading and voting for The Devil I Have Not Met is open until tomorrow. Y’all go show some love.
Meanwhile, there is a mini-contest in effect for this week. Brigit’s Flame wants Artists & Writers to share inspiring, community themed artwork. Make something bold and memorable!
One of my favorite colors is yellow, one of my favorite poets is Anne Sexton, one of my favorite artists is Van Gogh — one particular evening I was considering these many favorites, and composed a poem to share in a Brigit’s Flame contest. The general feedback consisted of mostly, “Uh …”
That’s okay. I really liked that poem, so, I cleaned it up a bit then included the second draft in a collection I sent off to a contest. I say all this, because I intend to share the second draft here, but may have to remove it later in consideration of publishing rights, etc. etc.
In the meantime, and in honor of tomorrow’s auspicious beginning of APAD 2015, let’s use this as the launching pad for a poetry writing exercise! Read my weird little poem, then go forth and choose three of your favorite things as subjects for your own piece of poetry — any style is welcome, and you may post in comments below or drop in a link for us to follow. Y’all #gowrite! We’ll be sure to read!
